About Us

-Founders-

Brent and Ashley founded Hugs from Ethan in 2021 in honor of their son. Ethan was born with a chromosomal condition, Trisomy 18 on November 17, 2017, he was not diagnosed until after birth. 

The shock of the news that their baby would likely not live to see his 1st Birthday shook their family but did not break them. 

Ethan passed away on November 20, 2017 and his siblings received prayer bears while at Cook Children's Hospital in Downtown Fort Worth. 

These bears became a foundation for the family and have been collecting bears since 2018 each year on his birthday.

Melissa Bufe and her husband Daniel met Brent and Ashley Skaggs in 2015 while attending church together and working at the church preschool.

Little did they know that their stories would bond them in their lives and through Christ. 

Melissa and Daniel lost their daughter Hadley in 2011 who was born premature at 22 weeks 6 days. 

Their experience of burying their daughter and living with a lifetime of grief would be what helped the Skaggs family weather through losing their son Ethan. Melissa joined Hugs from Ethan to help families through infant loss and sharing the gospel of Jesus through suffering.
